-
Kitchen gardens vary depending on the space you have and your gardening goals. Marigold works with traditional raised beds, border-style raised beds that run along a driveway or fence, container gardens for patios and other sunny spots, and more. We’ll help you find an approach that works well for your home, what you’d like to grow, and how you hope to use the garden.
-
Not necessarily! Raised beds are a great option, but they aren’t the only way to grow food at home. A collection of containers can make a wonderful kitchen garden, especially if you’re working with a patio, porch, or another sunny spot without room for beds.
-
Absolutely! We can help you choose the size, shape, material, and layout of your beds based on your space, what you want to grow, and your style preferences. Marigold can assemble ready-to-build wood or metal raised bed kits, fill and prepare the beds, add trellises or supports, and get everything ready for planting.
If your garden requires custom carpentry, significant grading or leveling, hardscaping, irrigation, or other larger construction work, we can help you determine when another professional should be brought in.
-
There’s plenty we can do with a garden that’s already growing. Marigold can help you make better use of the space, create a seasonal planting plan, refresh the soil, plant for the next season, troubleshoot what isn’t growing well, or simply help you keep up with it.
-
Of course. We’ll start with what you and your family actually like to eat, then consider your available space, sunlight, and what grows well during the season here in Georgia. If you’d like a little more direction, a seasonal planting plan can map out what to grow, where it should go, when to plant it, and what can take its place later in the season.
-
We’d be happy to. Marigold offers planting for new gardens as well as seasonal replanting for established ones. Depending on what your garden needs, we can prepare the soil, add compost or amendments, plant starts and seeds, add supports or trellises, and get everything settled in for the season.
-
We’re flexible. Marigold can source and purchase plants, seeds, soil, compost, fertilizer, trellises, and other supplies needed for your garden, or you can purchase some or all of them yourself. We’ll talk through what makes the most sense for your project before we get started.
-
Kitchen gardens can change quite a bit from week to week, especially during the busiest parts of the growing season. Marigold offers weekly, biweekly, and monthly visits depending on what you’re growing, the size of your garden, and how much you plan to tend it between visits. We’ll help you choose a rhythm that makes sense for you and your garden.
-
One of the nice things about gardening in Georgia is there’s almost always something we can be growing! What goes into the garden changes throughout the year as we move through cool, warm, and hot growing seasons. Marigold can help you time plantings and seasonal transitions so you can make the most of our long growing season.
-
Every garden is a little different, so pricing depends on the project and the type of support you’d like. We’ll start with a complimentary consultation to see your space and learn more about what you have in mind. From there, you’ll receive a clear proposal outlining the recommended services and pricing before we get started.
-
Tell us a little about your space and what you have in mind through our contact form. We’ll be in touch to schedule a complimentary consultation, take a look at your garden, and talk through how Marigold can help. There’s no need to have all the details figured out before you reach out.
